The Delhi Police have labeled a video, shared by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media, as 'fabricated' and 'politically motivated.' The video alleges the assault of a Bengali-speaking woman and her child in the national capital for speaking their language.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania disclosed that the woman, identified as Sanjanu Parveen, claimed four men dressed in plain clothes demanded Rs 25,000 from her and her child. However, police investigations, including analysis of CCTV footage, revealed discrepancies in her narrative.
Further inquiry revealed that a relative, a political worker from Malda district in West Bengal, urged the woman to fabricate the video. The Delhi Police consider this act an attempt to damage their reputation through a politically motivated scheme, with investigations still underway.
