DMK MP Kanimozhi took a significant stance on Tuesday by criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerning the Pahalgam attack, highlighting a failure in leadership in her speech in the Lok Sabha. She alleged that the "Vishwaguru" Modi has let down the very citizens he is meant to protect, referencing recurring terrorist attacks.
Addressing the debate on Operation Sindoor, Kanimozhi acknowledged the government's decision to involve Opposition MPs in global delegations. However, she emphasized that certain opportunities should not be celebrated. "Why did these delegations have to go, why did the attacks have to happen...some opportunities are not to be celebrated but to be mourned," she stated, pointing to the failure in maintaining peace.
Citing the incidents of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, Kanimozhi questioned the effectiveness of the government's response despite intelligence warnings. She accused the ruling party of engaging in a blame game while failing to prevent such horrific attacks, thus questioning the government's claimed status as a global leader.
