Khaleda Zia, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and chairperson of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is poised for a political comeback in the upcoming general election, according to party leader Abdul Awal Mintoo. The 79-year-old politician has been in good health following medical treatment abroad.

Mintoo confirmed Zia would contest in the election from Feni, attributing her improved health to successful medical care received in London. Discussions with Zia's son, acting BNP chairman Tarique Rahman, suggest the election could take place before February, pending legal decisions regarding the caretaker government.

Zia returned to Dhaka after medical treatments in London, where she was admitted for advanced care. Her political journey has seen her imprisoned on corruption charges, from which she was later acquitted. Under the current political landscape, Zia aims for another term as election dynamics unfold rapidly.
