The Telangana BJP, represented by its president N Ramchander Rao, has accused the state's Congress government of orchestrating a "political drama" with a planned protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi. The protest, slated for August 6, is concerning the Backward Class (BC) quota bills.
Rao criticized the Congress for failing to deliver the promised 42 percent reservation to BCs. He condemned the allocation of 10 percent of these reservations to Muslims, which he labeled as deceptive. Rao insisted that if the Congress genuinely cared for BCs, they should revoke the Muslim quota.
The BJP highlighted the Congress's responsibility to enforce the two bills passed by the state assembly in March, providing 42 percent reservations to BCs in sectors like local bodies, education, and employment. With Article 243(D) of the Constitution backing their stance, Rao questioned why Congress blames the Center while holding the needed authority locally.
