Tensions reached a boiling point in Nalgondavaripalli village, Kadapa district, as YSRCP and TDP supporters clashed during the ZPTC by-election campaign in Pulivendula constituency. The situation escalated when TDP workers allegedly pelted stones at the convoy of YSRCP MLC Ramesh Yadav, damaging his vehicle, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The incident left Yadav, YSRCP's Ramalinga Reddy, and two TDP leaders injured, necessitating hospital treatment. Police observed a temporary lull in tensions due to heavy rainfall, but stress levels surged again when Reddy's team reportedly entered a restricted area, defying police advisories.
Authorities have launched an investigation to probe Reddy's motives, as his unauthorized visit contradicted security advisories. Additional security measures are in place for political figures, and campaigns are being allowed only in police-cleared areas to prevent further discord.
