EC Challenges Rahul Gandhi's Silence on Bihar Voter List Irregularities

No political party has approached the Election Commission for changes in Bihar's draft voters' list, prompting EC sources to question Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's lack of objections. The EC critiqued Gandhi's tendency to raise claims only after elections, amidst his recent 'vote theft' allegations in other states.

The Election Commission (EC) expressed surprise over the absence of political parties seeking changes to Bihar's draft voters' list. Sources within the commission specifically questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's silence on the matter. They jibe at Gandhi, suggesting he might raise objections post-election, as is typical.

The draft rolls, made public on August 1, have yet to draw any formal requests for name additions or removals from any party. An official from the EC commented on Gandhi's predictable post-election claims and objections during Bihar's Special Intensive Revision.

This critique surfaced shortly after Rahul Gandhi accused authorities of 'vote theft' in Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Haryana. In response, the chief electoral officers in these states urged him to provide elector details under oath, adhering to the Conduct of Election Rules.
