Trinamool Congress (TMC) Members of Parliament staged a protest within the Parliament complex on Monday, voicing opposition to the alleged targeting of Bengali-speaking migrants in states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The MPs were seen holding placards and raising slogans, condemning what they claim is discrimination faced by Bengali speakers across different states.
TMC leader Kalyan Banerjee expressed his displeasure, stating, 'Bengali language is being insulted in BJP-ruled states. Bengalis are being arrested, they say Bengali is not a language. We are protesting against that. We will not tolerate this insult of Bengali language.' The protest took place ahead of a broader Opposition demonstration concerning the voter roll revision issue in Bihar, and is part of TMC's ongoing protests during the Monsoon session of Parliament.
