In a move set to redefine legislative protocols, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to present three pivotal bills in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. At the forefront is the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, targeting central or state ministers embroiled in corruption allegations, particularly those detained for over 30 days, to enforce accountability.
These bills, once introduced, are expected to be referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee featuring members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, facilitating thorough examination and debate. Of particular interest is the amendment to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, which aims to legally mandate the removal of a Chief Minister or minister embroiled in significant criminal charges.
In parallel, the House will deliberate on the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, presented by Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This bill seeks comprehensive regulation of online money games, emphasizing protection against socio-economic and psychological pitfalls, while gearing towards a unified legal framework for digital gaming across national borders.
