NCP president and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar recently stirred attention with a revealing comment about his party's expansion strategy. Speaking at a conclave in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pawar asserted the Nationalist Congress Party's sovereign choice of whom to welcome, particularly welcoming ex-MLA Shivajirao Chothe into the fold without interference from national leadership.
Addressing growing community tensions due to the Maratha quota Government Resolution (GR), Pawar appealed for politicians' help in safeguarding social harmony. His comments come amidst strong opposition from Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to the recent state decision which recognizes Maratha claims with Kunbi links under the Hyderabad Gazette. Pawar reiterated the administration's goal of balancing justice while adhering to legal constraints.
While refraining from naming specific figures, Pawar insisted that no party should exploit community differences. He reassured both new and veteran members of the NCP that the party remains united and committed to its path forward.
