The Odisha assembly witnessed its third day of turmoil as BJD MLAs voiced their concerns over the alleged scarcity of fertiliser in the state, claiming that the shortage was a result of rampant black marketing. The legislators demanded an immediate discussion, compelling Speaker Surama Padhy to adjourn the house until 4 PM.
As the chaotic session unfolded, an obituary reference was made for former MLA George Tirkey. Meanwhile, the opposition held firm, blaming the state's BJP government for failing to alleviate the plight of farmers grappling with fertiliser shortages.
In a related development outside the assembly, BJP MLA Irasish Acharya accused the opposition parties of deliberately stalling discussions. However, BJD's deputy assembly leader, Prasanna Acharya, reiterated the need for a comprehensive debate on the issue. Tributes were paid to the late Tirkey, a respected figure known for championing tribal rights.
