On Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with the family of Deepak Gupta, a NEET aspirant tragically killed by cattle smugglers on September 15 in Gorakhpur. The chief minister, offering condolences, handed Deepak's father a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh as immediate financial relief. He vowed unwavering support to the grieving family and instructed officials to address their concerns with utmost priority.
A gruesome incident unfolded on the night of September 15 when cattle smugglers attempted to break into Deepak's father's furniture shop. Responding to the alert, Deepak and villagers reached the site, where chaos ensued. The smugglers fired shots, forcibly took Deepak away, and his deceased body was later discovered 4 kilometres from the scene, bearing severe head injuries.
The murder sparked unrest in the village, causing locals to clash with police and block roads. Consequently, police officers at the Jungle Dhusar outpost faced suspension for negligence. Demanding justice, the family called for compensation, a government job, and stringent action against the culprits. Authorities have apprehended five suspects, with one dying during hospital treatment.
