In a pointed critique, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commendation of the RSS for its contribution to India's freedom movement. Addressing a gathering, Owaisi argued that, from his understanding, the RSS had no members who sacrificed their lives or faced imprisonment for the cause.
Owaisi supported his claims by referencing RSS founder K B Hedgewar, alleging that Hedgewar's involvement in the Dandi March was more about recruiting for the Sangh rather than genuine participation. He referred to archives suggesting that RSS workers posed no threat during British rule.
Furthermore, he highlighted past criticisms by the RSS, including a dismissive stance on the national flag and Constitution. Owaisi underscored the controversy over the 'I Love Muhammed' campaign, suggesting a double standard in response to public expressions of support for different figures.
