M V Govindan, the CPI(M) Kerala Secretary, publicly criticized the central government's decision to use public funds for celebrating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's centenary, asserting that it promotes the divisive concept of 'Hindu Rashtra' in India.

During a press conference, Govindan warned that the RSS's ideals threaten the country's secular fabric and condemned the issuance of a 100-rupee coin and stamp in the organization's honor.

In addition, Govindan scrutinized the opposition UDF for aligning with religious groups and condemned the central government's inadequate financial aid for landslide victims in Kerala, while also addressing ongoing local controversies.
