Western Balkan Leaders Push for EU Integration Amid Geopolitical Tensions

In a bid to expedite their economic integration with the European Union, Western Balkan leaders convened on Monday in Albania, amidst rising geopolitical tensions.

The meeting, set in Golem, 50 km from Tirana, is an annual fixture stemming from a 2013 diplomatic effort by EU members Slovenia and Croatia, aimed at fostering EU enlargement in the Western Balkans.

As the Ukraine conflict unfolds, prompting greater EU openness to expansion, the initiative seeks to reinforce political dialogue and reconciliation in a region still healing from historical conflicts.
