Amid escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday urged the United States and Iran to commit to diplomatic solutions. During a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Macron emphasized the importance of calming international conflicts through negotiations.
The situation remains tense as the United States continues its blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has reimposed its blockade on the vital Strait of Hormuz. This region is crucial for global trade, handling approximately 20% of the world's oil and liquefied gas supply.
In light of Iran's recent warning shots at ships, including a French-owned container vessel, Macron reassured that France was not the target. The shipping company, CMA CGM, confirmed the safety of the crew and categorized the incident as non-aggressive.
