Anbalagan: Sworn in as Pro Tem Speaker

A Anbalagan, the lone AIADMK legislator in the territorial Assembly, is set to be sworn in as the pro tem Speaker on Monday. The official ceremony will be presided over by Lt Governor K Kailashnathan, who will administer the oath of office and affirmation at the Darbar Hall in Lok Niwas.

Representing the Uppalam constituency, Anbalagan has previously won elections in the years 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2016. His political journey saw a setback when he lost the 2021 elections, surrendering his seat to a DMK competitor.

Currently serving as the Secretary of the Puducherry unit of AIADMK, Anbalagan represents a party that is part of the AINRC-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), of which BJP is also a coalition partner.
