Fadnavis Criticizes Opposition for Blocking Women's Reservation Bill

Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched a vehement attack on the Opposition following the defeat of the Women's Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Fadnavis described the opponents as 'wolves in disguise' for thwarting political reservations for women in governmental bodies.
The bill, which aimed to expedite the implementation of a 33% reservation for women, fell short of the necessary votes despite the BJP securing 298 votes in a House of 528. The Opposition's actions came under fire, with the BJP conducting press conferences across several cities.
Fadnavis emphasized that the 2023 legislation necessitates a nationwide Census and delimitation of constituencies for the reservation to take effect. He accused the Opposition of hypocrisy, citing their earlier support when the NDA had a strong majority and their subsequent resistance now that the amendment cannot proceed.
