The bypoll for the Umreth assembly seat in Gujarat's Anand district saw a voter turnout of 59.04% as reported by officials. The election was held due to the passing of sitting BJP MLA Govind Parmar last month.
This bypoll features a direct face-off between the BJP candidate Harshad Parmar and Congress candidate Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan. Additionally, three independent candidates and one from a minor party are also in the running. Voting was conducted peacefully across 306 stations, according to the Chief Electoral Officer for Gujarat.
The constituency reported no disturbances, and the polling, which started at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm, involved 2,45,623 eligible voters assisted by 1,500 personnel. The election result will be declared on May 4 after the vote count.
