In a noteworthy political development, seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak, both AAP MPs, announced this move at a press conference held on Friday.
Chadha revealed that a total of seven out of AAP's ten Rajya Sabha MPs have decided to merge with the BJP. This decision aligns with the constitutional provision that permits two-thirds of a party's representatives to merge with another party without facing disqualification.
Along with Chadha and Pathak, the other MPs aligning with the BJP include Harbhajan Singh, Rajendra Gupta, Vikram Sahni, Swati Maliwal, and Ashok Mittal. They have submitted the necessary documents to Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan, marking a substantial shift in the political landscape.
