In a significant political shift, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed the departure of seven Rajya Sabha MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak, amidst claims of AAP's unfulfilled promises. Fadnavis stated that AAP's foundation on anti-corruption promises has crumbled, leading to disillusionment among founding members and others.
These leaders have expressed support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, according to Fadnavis. He criticized AAP for betraying public trust by not living up to the dreams it sold to citizens, leading to an internal exodus over the years.
Additionally, Fadnavis addressed protests led by MNS workers against Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam's appeal about Marathi language requirements for autorickshaw and taxi drivers in Mumbai. He emphasized the importance of Marathi in the region and advocated for non-violent resolution while ensuring educational support for non-Marathi speaking drivers.
