Smooth Sailing in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu Elections: No Repoll Required

Officials from the Election Commission have confirmed that no repolls are necessary at the polling stations in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu where assembly elections occurred recently. The announcement was made on Saturday, following the successful execution of the first phase of voting in West Bengal and the single-phase election in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu, all 234 assembly seats participated in the electoral process last Thursday. Meanwhile, 152 seats in West Bengal entered the first phase of voting, with the remaining 142 seats set for April 29. The absence of repolling signals a smooth operation during this electoral season.
Previously, the Election Commission pointed out that deliberate disruption of webcasting could trigger a repoll. However, such issues did not arise during the recent polls. Notably, a repoll in Tamil Nadu was once prompted due to a faulty paper trail machine incident, but no similar occurrences affected this year's voting procedures.
