AAP's Rajya Sabha member, Sanjay Singh, has leveled serious allegations against the Central government, claiming that seven MPs, including Ashok Mittal, were coerced into joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Singh expressed confidence in a favorable decision from Rajya Sabha chairman CP Radhakrishnan on his petition to disqualify the MPs who defected.
In his statement, Singh discussed alleged Economic Directorate raids on Ashok Mittal, branding him corrupt, and insinuated that similar tactics were used to pressure others. Singh argued that the Rajya Sabha Chairman's decision to approve their merger with the BJP was founded on a collective letter from the MPs. However, he remains optimistic that his request for their disqualification, based on constitutional and democratic protections, will prevail.
Further controversy arises from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's refusal to appear before Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma in the excise policy case, alleging bias due to familial benefits from the government. Despite the Delhi High Court dismissing his plea for her recusal, Kejriwal insists his concerns are rooted in conscience and not disrespect for the judiciary.
