Maharashtra MLA Vijay Wadettiwar's remarks on a recent shooting incident in Washington, attended by US President Donald Trump, have ignited political controversy. The shooting, which occurred outside the White House Correspondents' Association's annual dinner, drew global attention as Trump and other top officials were evacuated unharmed.
In a video circulated by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Wadettiwar allegedly justified the incident, suggesting similar sentiments exist against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla alleged that these remarks go beyond political criticism, accusing Congress of endorsing violence.
The BJP has called for an apology from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting previous controversial statements by Wadettiwar. The ongoing discourse underscores the heightened political tensions in India, with the BJP accusing Congress of harboring a 'dangerous and irresponsible mindset' in its opposition to Modi.
