AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has openly questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent austerity measures, urging the leader to clarify the true state of India's economy. During a press conference, Kejriwal highlighted that while India has weathered various crises before, Modi differs by instituting seven stringent directives for the public.

The potential rationale behind these steps is the ongoing conflict between America and Iran, according to Kejriwal. However, he speculated there might be other, undisclosed reasons for the economic downturn. The former Delhi chief minister was particularly critical of the measures, which he perceives as disproportionately affecting the middle class.

Kejriwal pointed out the need for sacrifices from the prime minister, ministers, officers, and the wealthy, questioning why the burden seems to fall predominantly on common citizens. The opposition seized upon Modi's call for reduced gold purchases, limited foreign travel, and decreased petroleum usage as signs of government shortcomings.
