In a significant political development, N Rangasamy of the All India NR Congress (AINRC) was formally sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry on Wednesday. The oath was administered by the Lieutenant Governor, K Kailashnathan, in a ceremony attended by BJP National President Nitin Nabin.
The event also saw BJP leader A Namassivayam taking the oath of office as a Cabinet Minister in the Puducherry government. Addressing the media after the ceremony, Chief Minister Rangasamy expressed gratitude to the electorate and outlined the government's priorities under the newly formed National Democratic Alliance (NDA) administration.
Rangasamy emphasized his commitment to enacting welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of Puducherry's residents, with aspirations to develop the region into a thriving hub like Singapore. The ceremony followed the NDA's retention of power in the recent assembly election, where NR Congress secured 12 seats and BJP four in the 30-member assembly.
