On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu's political landscape was shaken as DMK MLA SS Sivasankar accused Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party of 'horse trading' to win support during the Assembly's floor test. Despite the AIADMK whip, several of its MLAs backed the government.

Following the trust vote, Sivasankar criticized Vijay for betraying electoral promises of integrity. 'Open horse-trading occurred, with AIADMK MLAs, including Mannargudi Kamaraj, supporting Vijay, tarnishing his clean government image,' Sivasankar stated. The TVK government clinched the floor test with 144 votes, surpassing their initial strength of 120.

Chief Minister Vijay, in response, promoted his leadership as representing the common people and dismissed 'minority government' labels. The surprise AIADMK support, despite directives, spotlighted infighting within the party, with actions hinting at possible defections under anti-defection provisions. Alliance support from Congress and other parties also bolstered TVK's position.
