Oath Day Drama: 144 MLAs Take Oath in West Bengal Assembly

A total of 144 MLAs participated in the swearing-in ceremony at the West Bengal Assembly on Wednesday. Protem Speaker Tapas Roy confirmed that the remaining 146 newly elected legislators would complete their oaths on Thursday.
Originally, 150 MLAs were scheduled for the ceremony, but six were absent due to various personal reasons. MLAs hailing from 12 districts, notably including nine from north Bengal and Murshidabad, took their oaths on the first day.
Additional newly elected legislators from Kolkata and several other districts are set to take their oaths on Thursday. The election for the Speaker's post is scheduled for Friday, as confirmed by Tapas Roy to reporters.
