Hungary's Bold Move: Summoning Russia Over Ukraine Drone Attack
Hungary has summoned Russia's ambassador to express condemnation over a recent drone attack on western Ukraine. The attack, which targeted critical infrastructure, resulted in several casualties. Hungary's foreign minister, Anita Orban, will confront the ambassador about Russia's ongoing conflict with Ukraine and demand an end to hostilities.
Hungary has taken a strong stance against Russia by summoning its ambassador following a drone attack on western Ukraine that left several dead and targeted key infrastructure. The incident has prompted NATO-member Poland to activate fighter jets.
Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced the diplomatic move on Wednesday, stating that Foreign Minister Anita Orban will meet Russia's ambassador on Thursday to condemn the attack. Orban is expected to demand an end to Russia's prolonged conflict with Ukraine during this high-stakes meeting.
Despite past close ties with Moscow, Hungary's current government has publicly criticized Russia's actions, especially those affecting ethnic Hungarians in Ukraine. The Russian embassy in Budapest has yet to comment on the situation, following Hungary's explicit condemnation via social media earlier.
