Kerala's political landscape witnessed a shift as CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan announced on Friday that the opposition LDF will participate in the UDF's upcoming oath ceremony. This gesture contrasts with the Congress-led front's earlier boycott of the Left's swearing-in event in 2021.
Govindan emphasized that the Left is dedicated to serving as a responsible opposition, pledging to support the government where needed while also holding it accountable for missteps. He defended the selection of Pinarayi Vijayan as opposition leader, highlighting that internal party discussions were key to this unanimous decision.
Amid recent electoral setbacks, Govindan denied claims of the LDF's diminished influence, expressing confidence in a future resurgence. He indicated ongoing internal evaluations aimed at understanding the defeat's root causes and fostering a united, forward-moving party strategy.
