Surjit Singh Rakhra Joins Aam Aadmi Party in Political Shake-Up
Former Punjab minister Surjit Singh Rakhra has left the Shiromani Akali Dal to join the Aam Aadmi Party, as announced in a meeting with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Rakhra, once a close ally of former CM Parkash Singh Badal, distanced himself due to differences with the party's leadership.

In a significant political shift, Surjit Singh Rakhra, a former minister in Punjab, has joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The announcement was made on Saturday in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Rakhra was once a prominent member of the Shiromani Akali Dal and served in crucial departments like revenue and rehabilitation during previous Akali governments. He was considered close to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal.
However, due to increasing differences with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal, Rakhra had distanced himself and associated with a breakaway faction, which later expelled him. Recently, Rakhra praised Mann for the anti-sacrilege law, signaling his alignment with AAP's policies.
