In Jharkhand, political tension flared as the Congress and CPI(ML) Liberation staged protests over recent fuel price hikes, demanding an immediate rollback. This move comes amid escalating inflation rates that threaten to destabilize household budgets, with a noted 8.3 percent rise as prices continue to soar.
Demonstrators, including Congress members, burned effigies of the Prime Minister in Ranchi's Albert Ekka Chowk, voicing their dissatisfaction with the policy shift. The CPI(ML) Liberation further augmented the protest with a march from Kali Mandir Road to Albert Ekka Chowk, criticizing the government's decision post-election.
Amid the unrest, Jharkhand experienced a surge in fuel demand, sparking fears of a shortage. However, Ashok Singh, president of the Jharkhand Petroleum and Dealers' Association, reassured the public, stating there is adequate supply, and the situation remains under control.
