Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to VD Satheesan, who officially became Kerala's new Chief Minister on Monday. This comes after Satheesan's leadership steered the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) back to power, successfully overcoming the long-standing Left front dominance.
The swearing-in ceremony took place in Thiruvananthapuram, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar overseeing the oath. Satheesan's Cabinet, comprising 20 members, includes representatives from major alliance parties, such as the UDF's second-largest constituent, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).
Prime Minister Modi assured Kerala of the central government's assistance in addressing the state's developmental goals and the people's aspirations, marking a supportive collaboration between state and central administrations. The political landscape in Kerala thus shifts to a new phase under Satheesan's leadership.
