On Monday morning, the Israeli military intercepted a flotilla attempting to breach the Gaza blockade, heightening tensions in the region. The operation ensued as more than 50 vessels, under the Global Sumud Flotilla banner, departed from Turkey's port in Marmaris last week.
Activists aboard were capturing the developments on camera as Israeli forces boarded their boats off Cyprus. The flotilla was nearing Gaza's territorial waters when the interception occurred.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry had issued a stark warning to activists just an hour before the interception, urging them to change their course and retreat immediately to avoid confrontation.
