Assam minister Atul Bora has been entrusted with the Parliamentary Affairs Department as an interim arrangement, ahead of the first session of the new assembly, an official order said.

Bora is among the four ministers inducted in the second Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government and were sworn-in together with the chief minister.

Ahead of the first sitting of the new assembly from Thursday, Bora has been given the responsibility of the Parliamentary Affairs Department.

''The Governor of Assam, on the advice of Chief Minister, is pleased to allow Shri Atul Bora, Minister, Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, Excise departments to also look after the matters pertaining to Parliamentary Affairs Department, as an interim arrangement,'' said the notification dated May 16, shared with the press on Monday.

Besides Bora, the other three ministers in the cabinet are Rameswar Teli, Ajanta Neog and Charan Boro.

The four-day assembly session will end on May 26, and Sarma had said the cabinet will be expanded after it.
