Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has voiced strong criticisms against both the Centre and the state government over a perceived lack of transparency regarding recent increases in fuel prices. Gehlot, addressing a press gathering on Tuesday, argued that the authorities have failed to adequately explain the reasons behind the rising costs of petrol, diesel, and CNG.
He further highlighted that opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, are demanding that the government clarify whether international circumstances have necessitated these price hikes. Gehlot accused BJP leaders of indulging in 'drama' by using alternative modes of transport following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's calls for fuel conservation, labeling these acts as ineffectual in the eyes of the public.
With public concerns mounting about ongoing and potential future price increases, Gehlot also pointed out the discontent among LPG distributors and petrol pump operators, who are facing public ire due to the lack of official explanation. Meanwhile, scenes of long queues at petrol stations and LPG shortages add fuel to the public's dissatisfaction.
