Andhra Pradesh's political leader Chandrababu Naidu has called for India's highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna, to be bestowed upon N T Rama Rao. Naidu highlighted the significant changes NTR introduced to the nation's political fabric during the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) annual gathering—Mahanadu.

Naidu passionately argued that recognizing NTR with the Bharat Ratna would honor the sentiments deeply held by the Telugu community, marking NTR's extraordinary journey from a civil servant to a celebrated film star and statesman.

As part of his speech commemorating the TDP founder's legacy, Naidu remembered NTR's role in promoting the unity of Telugu people and influencing national politics. He also renewed the party's call for legislative gender representation, emphasizing a 33% seat reservation for women.

The TDP, now under Naidu's leadership, remains a crucial player in national politics with substantial representation in the Lok Sabha as part of the NDA. The Mahanadu event reaffirmed the party's commitments to female political participation and celebrated the late NTR's enduring influence.
