Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, expressed confidence that the ruling Mahayuti coalition will secure victory in all 17 seats for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. He assured reporters that there are no internal disputes over seat-sharing, as had been speculated.
Speaking in Delhi, Shinde revealed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had already outlined a strategy for seat distribution among the coalition partners, which include the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party. The elections, scheduled for June 18 with results expected by June 25, will be an important indicator of the coalition's strength.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, local BJP leaders have voiced demands for the Aurangabad-Jalna seat, citing significant representation in local bodies. Meanwhile, Shinde addressed issues such as Maratha reservations, stating the government is committed to resolving the community's concerns.
Additionally, Shinde reiterated Shiv Sena's long-standing support for a Uniform Civil Code, insisting this aligns with founding ideals and broader national objectives. He assured that such changes would not adversely affect tribal rights or existing reservation policies.
