Siddaramaiah, following his resignation as Karnataka's Chief Minister, has departed for New Delhi. He is set to engage in consultations with the Congress high command concerning the state leadership transition and cabinet appointments.

D K Shivakumar, his deputy and a leading candidate to succeed him, will also join the discussions in the capital. This meeting will likely address the appointment of a new legislative party leader and other party roles within the state.

Sources indicate Siddaramaiah's resignation was part of the Congress's strategy to update its leadership in Karnataka, possibly including a central role for him within the party, which he has yet to accept.
