The BJP has criticized Congress, declaring the party has little space for talented individuals. This comment came after Congress MP Manish Tewari commented on the appointment of Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new chief of the BJP's Punjab unit.
Dhillon, who has previously held a position as a Congress MLA and joined the BJP in 2022, was named the leader of the Punjab chapter, succeeding Sunil Jakhar. Both had joined BJP from Congress. This appointment is seen as a strategic step by BJP to strengthen their position as they gear up for the 2027 state elections.
In his response, BJP's national general secretary, B L Santhosh, lashed out at Congress, suggesting it is devoid of places for 'men of calibre.' Sources indicate the BJP's choice of Dhillon, a Sikh, aligns with a targeted approach to capture the electorate's support, preparing robustly to challenge the current Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab.
