On the eve of his planned indefinite hunger strike, Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange condemned the Maharashtra government for its slow and allegedly discriminatory handling of the community's reservation demands. Jarange accused the authorities of subjecting Marathas to a 'cruel trial by fire' and vowed to begin his protest on Saturday under inhospitable conditions.

The activist aims to draw attention to the failure of the state administration to classify all Marathas as Kunbis, thus granting them eligibility for government job and educational reservations. Jarange criticized the government for not issuing the required certificates and frustrating Maratha students' educational ambitions. Despite some effort from the state to resolve past protests' legal issues, Jarange argues that change has been too slow.

Jarange's resolve is unshaken, despite concerns over health repercussions from fasting in intense heat. 'The Maratha community played a pivotal role in electing this government, it's unfair they face such neglect,' he stated, urging the administration to meet the community's needs promptly. Political reactions remain mixed, with some leaders urging resolution to avoid widespread discontent.
