The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise to update the electoral rolls has commenced across Sikkim. Booth level officers have started the door-to-door distribution of enumeration forms as part of this initiative.
Chief Electoral Officer Raj Kumar Yadav emphasized the significance of this revision process. He stressed the necessity for electors to provide accurate information, which is critical for maintaining a reliable electoral roll. As of May 30, officers have distributed around 24,482 forms. This accounts for 5.2% of Sikkim's electorate, although the actual number might be higher as data continues to be gathered and uploaded.
Yadav stated that the integrity of the electoral roll deeply depends on this exercise. District election officers and electoral registration officers have been instructed to ensure its smooth operation. Residents are urged to participate actively by completing the enumeration process on time, contributing to an open and equitable electoral system.
