The Trinamool Congress decided to cancel a meeting with its newly-elected legislators after discovering a significant number would not attend. The absence was attributed to ongoing protests triggered by attacks on party leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee.
Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh explained that the legislators were committed to addressing the aftermath of these attacks, including organizing protests and handling police actions. Consequently, the party opted to postpone the meeting temporarily. Although some members did gather at the scheduled venue, the Trinamool Congress assured future communication to reschedule.
Despite the meeting's cancellation, Mamata Banerjee engaged in informal discussions with attendees. The Trinamool Congress announced plans to stage protests against the BJP government, calling for rallies in rural and urban areas on Monday. Additionally, a sit-in protest is slated for Tuesday, targeting post-election violence and hawker evictions.
