The Bombay High Court has decided not to pause the ongoing construction of a passenger jetty and terminal facilities near the Gateway of India, citing the project's public interest value. The decision came despite concerns aired by local residents.

Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice M S Karnik noted that while construction continues, it will depend on the final judgment concerning a petition brought by Clean and Heritage Colaba Residents Association (CHCRA), which opposes the development.

Government officials assured the court that major demolitions pending the next hearing won't occur, though residents are concerned about irreversible changes. This matter will receive further judicial review on June 20.
