The unseasonal rainstorm that struck Maharashtra's Palghar district has left a trail of destruction, as confirmed by a government release on Thursday. High winds and torrential rain resulted in the loss of one life, along with damage to approximately 800 houses and 50 boats.
Ganesh Naik, Palghar's Guardian Minister, has ordered a thorough damage assessment and assured citizens that compensation will be allocated per government standards. The district administration has been instructed to ensure public safety and expedite relief measures.
Tragedy struck in Vedi village where 65-year-old Moreshwar Lohar was electrocuted by a downed power line while tending to his goats. The adverse weather impacted Palghar, as well as the Thane, Mumbai, and Raigad districts, causing significant disruption and hardship for residents.
