A deadly cylinder blast triggered the collapse of a three-storey commercial building in Bikaner, police reported on Thursday, claiming nine lives so far. Five additional bodies were recovered overnight, alongside the tragic death of a 17-year-old on Thursday.
The catastrophic explosion occurred in Madan Market on Wednesday, reducing the structure to rubble and ensnaring its occupants. Authorities worked tirelessly, retrieving three victims shortly after the incident.
Describing the powerful blast, jeweler Vikas Soni likened its impact to an airstrike, noting significant damage to local stores and valuable gold lost under debris. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma offered condolences and ensured rapid medical aid. Emergency relief operations continue, with the district administration actively engaged.
