5.7 Magnitude Quake Jolts Eastern Papua New Guinea

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake has rattled the eastern region of Papua New Guinea, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported on Friday.

According to the EMSC, the quake's epicenter was located at a depth of approximately 59 kilometers beneath the earth's surface.

Local authorities are currently assessing any potential damage to infrastructure and communities in the region, as shocks of this magnitude can lead to considerable disruption.
