Rain lashed parts of Punjab and Haryana on Friday, bringing down the mercury by a few notches and offering respite from the heat.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, reported 9.7 mm of rainfall according to the Met department. Other areas in Haryana, such as Rohtak, Faridabad, and Gurugram, also experienced showers. In Punjab, light rain was seen in Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, and Hoshiarpur.
There is an increasing trend in rainfall over the region, suggesting that conditions are ripe for the advancement of the southwest monsoon into parts of Punjab and Haryana soon, predicts the weather office. The forecast anticipates light to moderate rain in numerous regions, with heavy rainfall likely in select areas on key dates.
