The Jayakwadi Dam, a critical infrastructure in Maharashtra's Marathwada region, will soon benefit from enhanced security measures. More than 100 CCTV cameras are set to monitor the dam, following a safety audit conducted six months ago, a senior official announced on Friday.
Strategically positioned on the Godavari River, Jayakwadi Dam serves key functions, providing both agricultural and drinking water to nearby areas including Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, while stretching over 10 km in Paithan tehsil.
A robust surveillance strategy will be implemented with the setup of watchtowers and a dedicated control center, bolstered by a Rs 4 crore budget. In addition, measures will mitigate erosion risks and strengthen dam structures.
