In Bihar's Nalanda district, a flood-like situation has emerged due to damage to small dams resulting from rising water levels in the Falgu River, triggered by heavy rainfall in Jharkhand. Officials confirmed the reports on Saturday.
The Disaster Management Department of Bihar disclosed that 73,000 cusecs of water were released from the Uderasthan Barrage in Jehanabad on June 19, causing portions of some small dams to falter. This has caused flooding in areas such as Hilsa, Karaiparsurai, and Ekangarsarai within Nalanda district.
To address the crisis, relief materials, including food and water, are being distributed, and temporary shelters are set up for the affected individuals. Moreover, two NDRF teams have been deployed for effective relief and rescue missions.
