The approval of 19 significant road and tunnel projects for Jammu and Kashmir, sanctioned by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marks a transformative phase for the region. Valued at Rs 10,637 crore, these initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and provide much-needed connectivity.
The proposed projects include the Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel and the Sadhana tunnel, as well as the Zaznar-Shopian section of NH-701A. Additional developments such as the four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora and the Magam Flyover on the Narbal-Gulmarg section demonstrate a commitment to modernizing the UT's logistics.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha highlighted the strategic value of these projects, emphasizing benefits such as improved troop mobility and tourist access. Tunnels will significantly cut travel time and ensure connectivity year-round, driving economic progress and development throughout the state.
